Confessions of a Wannabe Seamstress

Posted by Blog 30 September, 2016 No Comments
I have a confession to make.  I do NOT know ANYTHING about sewing. My husband has been in the world of sewing for 30 years!  But I couldn’t tell you the difference between a straight stitch or a zig zag.  I mean, obviously the straight stitch is straight and the zig zag is NOT, but why you need both….I have no idea. Even more of a shocker, I’ve had NO desire to learn. Until 3 months ago. 3 months ago “Cozys for the Cure” entered my life.  If you don’t know our “Cozy for the Cure” mission, check out the video below. Long story short, Jordan Phillips, needed help sewing cozys.  My daughter, Peyton, and I decided to help. Jordan filmed a “how to” video and sent it to us.  Off sewing we went.  I dusted off the sewing machine, literally, and started to sew. My daughter sewed her hair INTO the sewing machine on the very first one.  How does that even happen??  I sewed around the whole cozy without leaving a space to “turn out” more than once.  It was a rough start. BUT soon we were in the groove and it was FUN! I liked it so much, I have declared to my husband that I am devoting this year to learn the art of sewing. “Yeah right”, he says.  “You, sew?”   “Yes” I say, “me.” To keep me accountable, and to prove to my husband the naysayer, I have decided to blog my year of blunders and successes.  My hope is to prove to those who are like me, that it can be done.  And to get advice from all of you that truly know what they are talking about! I hope you find my journey fun…and funny…and inspiring… My journey begins now!  Every Sunday I’ll be posting my happenings.  Wish me luck. Andrea
