If you say so….

I love my little sewing machine.  I know how to thread it, wind a bobbing, and switch out the feet. I feel like my sewing is much like my golf game.  I am not very good at golf so I can play an entire round with a 7 iron and a putter.  I have no need for all those choices!  A driver??!! No thanks. Sand wedge??  If I’m in the sand I’m kicking it out with my foot!   Same with sewing.  I don’t need stitch choices, or fancy buttons, or computer screens!  I can not even sew a straight line at this point…and circles…don’t get me started.   Here is my trusty machine…Isn’t it cute. new-machine-2 Everyday since I have decided to learn how to sew, my husband comes home and says, “You want a new sewing machine yet?”   “No, I do not.”  I say.   “You don’t even know how good of a sewer you can be!  Your machine is holding you back!” he says.   Until one day he has worn me down and I agree. new-machine-blog1 He comes home with this guy.  Janome Skyline S7.   I am not kidding you when I say his face was beaming when he brought it home for me.  He unpacked it, set it up, threaded it, and wound bobbins for me.   He called me over and started telling me everything it could do.  “Look at the nice lighting, the pivot turn option (you can NOT live without!), all the built in quilting stitches, etc. etc. etc.”   Truth be told I only listened to 20% of what he had to say.  I could not get past his delight in his eye that screamed  “FINALLY SHE THINKS SELLING SEWING MACHINES IS COOL!”   I had to play along because it was adorable to watch him beam as he showed me the “autocut” feature.  (Which I actually really find fantastic!) darren-skyline Another truth…I still do not think what he does is particularly oozing sex appeal BUT the fact that he wanted to make me happy does. Even though, he is a total dork…in so many ways (okay, A LOT of ways)! darren-machine-blog I appreciated his enthusiasm so much I BARELY complained when this kept happening to me!! Bobbin winding issues!!! Possibly a user error issue but….it’s never MY FAULT. Ever. new-machine-blog Next week, I try out all those quilt stitches.   Cheers!   Andrea
